6.2.4 Horizontal Circulating Conveyor Arrangement

If the shafts are vertical (Figure 6.8), install a guide roller or guide shoe to the chain to keep the chain from hanging down. This method is covered in more detail in the Applications section of this book.

NOTE: For all conveyors, the use of a take-up is suggested. Take care not to overtension the chain, or the result will be increased wear between the pin and bushing. Also, if there is a corner roller guide, bushing/roller wear will occur. There must be adequate take-up allowance.
