7.2.1 Installation
Large pitch conveyor chain is usually supplied in the length specified. Therefore, you don't need to cut these chains. Disconnect the outer plate on the end of each chain set and use this as a connecting link.
Tools: hammer, setting tool, monkey wrench, or T-pin bender
Method (Figure 7.15)
- Step 1. At the outer link on the end of the chain, the outer plate on the T-pin side is pushed in lightly. Remove the outer plate with the hammer.
- Step 2. Using this outer link, connect the inner links of both ends of the chain.
- Step 3. Tap the outer link plate onto the link with the hammer until the pin is completely inserted into the link plate.
- Step 4. When you see the T-pin hole, insert the new T-pin into it. Using the monkey wrench or T-pin bender, bend the T-pin more than 30° to lock it into place.

Alternately hit the pin heads while supporting other side of plate.
